Making matters worse, Pep Boys has fallen short of Wall Street's profit targets in each of the four previous quarters. The trend suggests that Pep Boys may earn less than the 17 cents a share that the pros are forecasting. Tuesday -- The Big Apple We will finally get our first look at the iPhone 6 on Tuesday. As of the close of the third quarter there were ten guru owners of Fomento Economico Mexicano. These gurus held a combined weighting of 1.99%. During the third quarter, there were four gurus making buys and seven making sells of their stake in FMX.

  • [By Jonas Elmerraji]

Fomento Economico Mexicano (FMX), better known as FEMSA, isn't another ascending triangle trade this week, unfortunately for shareholders. Instead, FEMSA is currently forming the bearish opposite of the pattern in Wells Fargo and Citi: a descending triangle.

The descending triangle is formed by downtrending resistance above shares and a horizontal support level to the downside. In this case, that price floor comes in just below $90. The lower highs that form resistance in FMX signal that buying pressure is waning above the $100 level as long-suffering sellers opt to take gains near the high-end of this stock's recent range. Once that glut of demand at $90 gets taken out, a lot more downside looks likely for FMX.

But now, MTB is forming a rounding bottom, a bullish setup that indicates a gradual shift in control of shares from sellers to buyers. The rounding bottom pattern looks exactly like it sounds, and even though MTB's pattern is actually at the top of its recent range, the trading implications are exactly the same. A breakout above $118 is the signal that the pattern is completed and it's time to be a buyer.

With high short interest in MTB right now, a short squeeze could add some fuel to the fire on a breakout. Support looks reasonably strong at $110 -- that's the spot to keep your stop.

10 Best Net Payout Yield Stocks To Buy For 2014

President's Obama's fumfering response last week to the ill-performance of the Affordable Care Act's online insurance exchange included a discordant repetition of the word "website." It was as though the word were new in his mouth and distasteful to him and as if the flaws and breakdowns in the system might be part and parcel of the peculiar word.

Then he tried to draw a distinction puzzling to anyone who has ever performed an online transaction: He said the product these health exchanges that few could get access to was good; it was the process that was problematic. He seemed genuinely to have no idea that for most Americans steeped in digital behavior, the product is the process. (His distinction is like an airline saying planes are remarkable feats of engineering, so pay no attention to the fact that you might be delayed for hours on the tarmac.)

The looming Fed taper has been the talk of Wall Street for months, but it still came as a surprise to investors when it actually happened. Stocks rallied Wednesday following the Fed's decision to cut its $85 billion a month purchase of bonds by $10 billion, beginning in January. Outgoing Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke said the economy continues to "make progress." The Dow Jones industrial average (^DJI) soared 292 points on the news, its third biggest one-day gain this year. The Dow also hit a closing high, as did the Standard & Poor's 500 index (^GPSC), which gained 29 points. And the Nasdaq composite (^IXIC) rose 46 points. Consider it Bernanke's final present to the market before he retires from his position atop the Fed. Among the big blue chip winners, 3M (MMM) rose 3 percent, while Exxon Mobil (XOM), Chevron (CVX) and Goldman Sachs (GS) all rose 2 percent. But Microsoft (MSFT) was flat, reflecting across the board weakness in tech stocks. Many of the biggest players on the Nasdaq lost ground despite the overall market rally. Apple (AAPL) and Twitter (TWTR) ended lower and Tesla (TSLA) lost nearly 3 percent. Part of the reason for the tech weakness was an earnings miss and a weak forecast from Jabil Circuits (JBL), a key maker of electronics. Its shares plunged 20 percent. But homebuilders were strong following a report showing that housing starts last month rose to highest level in nearly six years. Lennar (LEN), which also posted strong earnings, jumped 6 percent. William Lyon Homes rose 4 percent, KB Homes (KBH) and Toll Brothers (TOL) each rose 3.5 percent. Ford (F) shares skidded more than 6 percent after lowering its profit forecast for next year. The company also warned that it may not meet its target for 2015 and 2016. In part, Ford blames the high expenses tied its planned launch of a record number of new vehicles next year. Finally, the movie theater chain AMC Entertainment (AMC) rose 5 percent from its $18 a share IPO price. This is exp

    Calling all cash flows
When you are trying to buy the market's best stocks, it's worth checking up on your companies' free cash flow once a quarter or so, to see whether it bears any relationship to the net income in the headlines. That's what we do with this series. Today, we're checking in on Symmetry Medical (NYSE: SMA  ) , whose recent revenue and earnings are plotted below.

  • [By Sean Williams]

What: Shares of Symmetry Medical (NYSE: SMA  ) , a medical device solutions and surgical instruments manufacturer, dipped as much as 17% after the company updated its second-quarter and full-year financial guidance.

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

One under-$10 health care player that's starting to trend within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade is Symmetry Medical (SMA), which designs, develops and produces medical device solutions and surgical instruments. This stock has been hit by the sellers in 2013, with shares off by 22%.

If you take a look at the chart for Symmetry Medical, you'll notice that this stock has been finding some buying interest over the last two months, each time it's pulled back to around $7.75 a share. That action has started to form a bottoming pattern for SMA near that $7.75 level. Shares of SMA are now starting to challenge its 50-day moving average of $8.20 a share. That move is quickly pushing shares of SMA within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in SMA if it manages to break out above some near-term overhead resistance levels at $8.29 to $8.60 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that hits near or above its three-month average action of 129,189 shares. If that breakout hits soon, then SMA will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $9.40 to its 200-day moving average of $9.59 a share. Any high-volume move above those levels will then put $10.50 to $11 into range for shares of SMA.

Traders can look to buy SMA off any weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right below some key near-term support at $7.75 a share, or at $7.44 a share. One can also buy SMA off strength once it clears those breakout levels with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.
